Fireflies
Last night I had my first good encounter with the season’s fireflies when one followed me along the veranda, flashing like a little beacon. Finding fireflies here was one of the highlights of getting to know this place – when my daughter saw a cloud of them for the first time she said ‘That must be why people invented fairies!’
